Thanks for this very incisive newsletter. I love Nina Paley. This Land is Mine I can't watch without crying. Someone with the expertise to do so should show it at every protest. Netanyahu is such a vile little man. I do believe he'd rather see the world in flames rather than give up his power.

aw shucks 'n thanks!--yup, Nina "rocks!" (Do see her "Sita" if ya haven't--it's brilliant!) meantimes I'm afraid yer right that BB-Gun is indeed dead-set on "settin' the world on fire" an' not in a good way--he's got BIG POWER behind him tho' sadly, it's all "posturin' " (nobuddy is gonna stop him yet--not enuf damage done per the cabal)--an egomaniacal puppet, a race ta see who might survive his "scorched earth / Earth" policy--soitenly not Israel an' I fear for all there not ta mention the rest of us...

Do you remember a really old movie called "All the King's Men"? It speaks to all people with power or celebrity. (Although I believe it was a fictionalized account of Huey Long). One day you're king (or queen) of the world and the next day you're reviled. Life and lives run in cycles, Netanyahu's "up" cycle can change in a flash - god and the universe permitting.

Wowee, haven't heard All the King's Men mentioned in cow's age!--I read the book in high school an' 'member thinkin' it was velly good, a cautionary tale about power. Have yet ta see that movie but I took a look an' whatta cast! Thanks fer mentionin' it!

Back in the day, many astute writers (vs the "ass-toot" poor excuse fer writers we gots today tee hee!) saw the bigger human tales in ordinary events an' have thankfully, in print an' on celluloid (Sell You Lloyd?) shown us the ultimate downfall of all them demagogues. As ya said, may NetAnYoohoo's "upcycle" cycle turn down (I'd say 6 feet under! given his disregard fer life, limb, an' anyone's hiney but his own!) There's a few rotten eggs he should take with 'im on his Fall too--may they all crack inta a million pieces such that All the King's Horses & All the King's Men... wull ya know!

May God continue to richly bless you, Daisy. This is a day to give Him sincere honor and praise from the heart for all that He has done for us throughout the ages: DAYENU! Pesach is a Holy Feast unto the Lord not just a custom of our people , but a beautiful memorial to Him in relationship to us that is meant to live in our hearts forever generation to generation. This is how we are meant to observe it.

An' blessin's back yer way too Catherine! Passover is very meanin'ful here'bouts--yes yes far beyond a custom, every aspect of the holiday too--an' all the more poignant this year given what's goin' on in Israel--tho' I daresay we got BBGun cast as Pharaoh now!

What may interest ya is Naomi Wolf's been recordin' her readin' of the bible aloud, includin' in the original Hebrew (all free, no paywall) an' showin' how so many translations (Geneva onward) "got stuff wrong" an' how the original one (in Hebrew) was far warmer an' told a far more human tale with poetry, nuance, subtlety--all fascinatin'! It's a real treat (unexpectedly so!) fer Chews, Christians, Atheists an' anybuddy that has no idea whut they wuz missin' due ta shoddy translations!

Here's the link in case yer interested an' many thanks fer all ya shared!

Oh my goodness.

Love This Land is Mine. Brilliant! Will look up other Nina Paley stuff.

I only have one Jewish friend who is completely non-practising and even though I remember reading books by Jewish writers in my youth I've never learnt much about the culture so it's interesting reading about Passover and Seder and how the Jews wish for peace for everyone.

Utterly fascinating about Max Azzarello's background. I will add this to my post on self-immolations.

lol, yes Nina Paley's stuff is BRILLIANT! Watch SITA--it's just so good ;-)

Glad ta share a bit then 'bout Passover--the wish for peace for everyone ends every seder! Folks git "funny" idears--'specially now.

An' yup, by all means do add/share the bits about "Mad Max" Azzarello--I'd be shocked ta bits if we didn't witness a complete "stunt" by a real "joker" (a role well known ta his family)... I think they tried ta trigger a) trauma in those that "witnessed this thing" an' b) start a trend--like the blue whale... Lotta sicko's scriptin' this stuff...life like teevee!
