Gonzo Lira — fierce thinker, satirist, habitual smoker, and TRUTH TELLER… RIP!

With a heavy heart I had to say somethin’ about this very sad news; outspoken journalist Gonzalo Lira is DEAD, tortured and murdered in Ukraine. He left behind young’uns an’ a wife.

The United States declined to do anything ta help this brave, decent American, a frank, funny, an’ fierce good-hearted soul, speakin’ out about the war in Ukraine—the stories the MSM were not tellin’ us because Russia, Russia, Russia wasn’t vilified. Because he KNEW. First hand. He understood, he shared.

Alas poor Gonzalo, I feel I nearly knew ya…

Condolences ta yer fambly—I had you in my thoughts fer some time now an’ HOPED upon hope that the worst would not arrive, but so the worst has come to pass

The USA has abandoned its citizens preferrin’ mindless dogma over human lives. Good “Gonzo” didn’t fall for the dogma an’ it’s a tragedy he lost his life for not conforming, for speaking against the grain, for bein’ true to his own mind, really. It used ta be an American VALUE, that’s the irony of course.

May he live on in spirit an’ in memory—an’ deepest regrets ta have ta report such sad news. Once more: RIP Good Gonzalo.

P.S. apart from the paid-rabble hollerin’ out “good riddance ta bad rubbish” & may this “shill fer Putin” rot in H.E.DoubleToothpicks, I been seein’ various ‘n sundry postin’s ‘bout him bein’ an OP. Per this chatter either he’s a) bein’ a paid counter-operation ta “limit the narrative” about the war, b) bein’ a paid stooge who, after the 1st arrest, made a deal with Ukraine ta bow out (via a faked death) by stoppin’ all postin’s ‘bout Russian winnin’, an’ c) bein’ a totally unreliable sleeze ball b/c of his sexist “schtick” as “Coach Red Pill. Oh an’ there’z talk he’s Black Nobility an’ wuz jus’ sequestered back inta ta the fold after “chaos mission accomplished.”

Y’all I stand by my take in this postin’ that a good man has been allowed ta die. Part’ve it is that his “demise” falls SO late in the narrative—Ukraine has long lost this battle; the most important “reportage” Gonzo dished out already—why hide him now? When many have fergottin’ who the man wuz? The US got all that egg on their faces already—too late ta wipe it off witout a trace. AND… part’ve it is from the seat-O-my pants kinda feelin’— cuz I’ve known fellas like him.

A lotta men hit 40 an’ have a little mid-life crisis when all is not goin’ as they saw things in their salad daze. Many, feelin’ the touch of time, wanna find a good gimmick an’ tho’ “datin’ advice” is a tad whiffy-iffy, I don’t blame the man. Folks ALWAYS have craved ADVICE! From Dear Abby ta the Lonely Hearts Columns of yore. It’s a way ta earn a livin’. Funny story, I went ta college with a Philly Mainline Blue-Blood gal who became a datin’ coach herself ‘till that bizness also tanked fer ‘er—she wuz honest in her dealin’s but the whole thing wuz built on (very lucrative) toothpicks (like the legs of them purdy Russian girls she found fer ugly hedge fund fellers) an’ they ultimately collapsed. Trophies tarnish, why kin I say? Also that biz drove her ta distraction—these self-important men she had to listen to ‘bout their woes ad-nauseum. This gal wuz smart, earned her M.A., wuz raised with a silver spoon in her perfect Pepsodent-white chompers (the first person’ I’d met that actually knew polo an’ went “yahtin’,” but she wuz NOT so rich as ta count on bein’ idle fer her entire life. My guess—ditto fer Mister Lira even tho’ he came from money like my ol’ friend did.

Gonzo made a couple cheezy low-budge films that tanked an’ after failin’ as a datin’ coach FOUND a niche in war reportin’. I don’t fault him one bit. His humor an’ wry angle wuz (imho) sincere, just as much as his blunt an’ truthful reportage made THIS his callin’! I could give a hoot about his former litter-airy conceit of sexism as a datin’ coach. Many folks appoint themselfs in a given cloak of conceit ta gain money, fame, fortune or a way ta pay the phone bill. I don’t fault ‘im fer droppin’ the “bullshit-gimmick” an’ finding he landed in the right place at the right time. An’ ultimately, he married, became a daddy, an’ seemed ta have DUMPED his illusions ‘bout bachelorhood an’ bein’ “chickbait.” Ha ha! —So agin’ I still feel the same, no change at all;
