Thanks for this, and I'm with you, Daisy, on everything except the loathing part. I prefer to laugh at its absurd pretensions!

Laff we kin, that's fer sure ;-) but ta me at least, "loathin' the AI" is a gerund I don't take lightly--I "loathe" very little in this yet bounty-full whirled, but knowin' whut I do 'bout the tech--how it's meant ta replace us gorgeous humans (Sabrina Wallace lays it out in her own inimitable esoteric-stem-brainiac way), it's rilly a life-'er-death matter so I do feel a mite more keenly 'bout it, far beyond my usual pokin' fun fer sure. I wartch the AI take over--as I no longer kin do a proper search of things an' land on the same dang AI-written wurd-salad no matter whut. I see the nightmare AI makes of my younger'uns "college now" classes, cuz teachers 'r too lazy ta read 'er even grade work (yup, gotta git ta do that postin' too...), an' the freakier way they'ze usin' it ta skeer folks every way 'til Sunday (been' readin' tales of people gettin' a call from a dead fambly member whose voice wuz AI-created--nope, I cannot laff at that....), dok-turd'in' photos turnin' ordinary young'uns whose poisonal pix are on FB inta porn-hub-hotties ta their horror (in a few cases resultin' in sue-a-cide). The thing is--this ain't a human (like humans kill folks, not the guns). This is AI sometimes sans interventions from a live body--they program the stuff an' let'er rip (rip lives up!).

So yup, when it's not so critty-cull I laff but given the dia-bollock-cull aims... I cain't. It's jus' too durn evil an' could be the erasure of us all (or death--whutever comes first). (Some do not believe the tech is there... they think it's all a bluff--so I don't buy the bluff...I think they'ze tellin' us--an' "Zey" are the ones laffin' at us... cold hard Dr. Phibes laff too). I've listened ta some'a the darker ones talkin' 'bout it--Giordano, Akyildiz--an' "Oh the Thinks They Can Think" (an' do! even Seuss couldn't envision 'em an' he went quite the distance ta warn us!)

Meantimes, I'll 'member the advent of AI with a wink ta Mel Brooks's "When Things Were Rotten!" (But I'll laff with ya on much-other meantimes!)

I hear you. I'm not diminishing the heinousness of what has transpired through tech, or what they have in store for us. But I'm not willing to loathe. It's just not what I came here to do, and I think it feeds the darkness. Yet I completely understand the impulse and the need for others to do so.

gotcha, ha ha, I'll do it double ta make up fer conscious abstainers... heck I'd give AI the "evil eye" myself if I could (grrrr!)

Hey....do any of Y'all remember those VR HEADSET that one of the characters in STAR WARS(?) was constant wearing? Another one of the PREDICTIVE PROGRAMMING genre that appeared in that and in other immensely popular and endlessly hyped series like STAR TREK?

That in particular stuck out to me as very weird. Cutting edge Television "programming" from the 70's. Just early on "harmless entertainment" prototypes from the Metaverse.........

100% spot on--the VR Headsets 'r even DARKER an' more DEVIOUS than ya'd think (I'm learnin' more 'bout this stuff along the way)--an' gettin' kids ta connect their StarWars "heros" to the things is just reprehensible. StarWars (indeed Predictive Programmin'! including the laser lights I've spoken of before--luciferase an' lights as WEAPONS--we never would'a guessed but SOMEBUDDY did--) --an' Star Wars of course was also our military / DARPA "OP" to militarize SPACE (guess that includes brain / headspace too!).

So yeah, VR reprograms yer brain an' it's sugar-coated fer children--the effect is quicker for young'uns but it actually scrambles an' messes with neural networks from all I'm readin'. SO many kids today are inta this VR stuff with parents buyin' it fer 'em not knowin' how bad it is. They kin spend hours in the VR "Metaverse" totally disconnected from real things--life, smell, touch, friends --human contact/compassion--b/c of course it's synthesized--"convincin'ly so." 1st it affects normal brain "rhythms"--i.e. the speed at which neurons fire! next it confuses brains in terms of their perception of reality--think of it as a fast forward inta the matrix... I understand that after about 15 minutes wearin' these things damage can be permanent / irreversible tho' not "certain" that's a fact set in stone (as brains can heal to varyin' degress--there was long a myth they were not at all neuroplastic...). But all true--what wuz perceived as "harmless entertainment" was GROOMING for the Metaverse, exactly.

And of course--some of the vintage stuff IS well-done and entertainin'--we just didn't see what was planted nor the warnin's (2001 an' the true evil of HAL... an' takin' over the spaceship with auto-pilot--very (f)elon-muskian stuff too)--yup, Kubrick was warnin' us all EVEN as new stuff was flowin' outta hollyweird...

OH just found this--of course if ya wear yer VR headset you'll never need a "controller" (ha, the irony of it--they'll control YOU of course!)

Yes, HAL absolutely.

Or how about the demented elite of Dr Strangelove........their certifiably insane machinations ending in worldwide destruction as Major "King" Kong has the Last Word maintaining his tenuous control

all

the

way

down....

yup, Strangelove has so many warnin's on all fronts! Even the fluoride "warnin'" from General "Ripper" was on the money... an' The Shinin' is fulla 'reveals" 'bout the (Fake) Moon Landin'... May he RIP cuz in the last one he tried ta show us all 'bout the cabal...
