SPRINGFIELD, MO is like ANYTOWN, USA... you know, the quaint Americana of real-life places that still have a Main Street down which marches the annual 4th of July Parade, a firehouse ready to host yearly pancake suppers, hard-workin’ famblies with a chicken in every pot AND…in this “small town America”-paradigm, there’s a Springfield in every (nearly every) state! Yup! Thirty four US States have a SPRINGFIELD...so it’s nearly all’ve ‘em. And I’m startin’ ta think (I’ll mention my last story ‘bout Springfield OH vs this one about Springfield MO…) that each one of these “Springfield USA’s” has a story to tell…

Yep! we’re informed that 2 million (per the owners) outta 3.5 million Sq Ft are for frickin’ CHEESE. (oh puhleese!)

We’re also told that nearly a half-million of these Sq Ft are earmarked specifically for BUCKETS of VELVEETA🧩.

🧩VELVEETA the FOREVER CHEESE? REALLY?! VELVEETA is PLASTIC! It DOES NOT ROT. It’s not really even cheese so they must label it “processed cheese food,” it’s a POLYMER made from canola oil, many preservatives, food starch and… some cheese “scraps” and does NOT need cold storage unopened and SOME tests show that it lasts indefinitely EVEN when OPENED! At room TEMP it lasts…. forevah?!? (“Velveeta will stay fresh for a really, really long time.”) There have been many stories of processed cheese (like Kraft Slices & Velveeta) lasting for DECADES on unintentionally preserved burgers.

NOT KIDDING (wish I wuz)—so yup, storage for CHEESE, ‘specially “processed cheese food” which does NOT need chilled or cave-like temperatures? :

About about 👨🏽‍🏭 500 people 👷🏽 🏭 work underground for “The Underground” which includes office staff, accounting, engineers, operations an’ “more.” (gee, that’s a good size “staff” an’ I’m guessin’ that number don’t include 🦴“dinner guests?” 🧟‍♀️ or one time “hires” that never seem ta come back…🛢️🛢️🛢️ Also, the town likely looks quite favorably upon any comp’ny that employs so many people…perhaps lookin’ the other way when needed to keep so many employed? 🍷— ed)

It’s labeled “mixed use” tho’ most of that “mix” is, again, PREPOSTEROUSLY, set aside for…. 🧀 CHEESE 🧀 an’ other items that fall under “food storage” (cream cheese, eggs🥚, lunch meat 🥪 ) we also hear ‘bout 🛞 AUTO PARTS & DIGITAL / 💾 COMPUTER Storage/ backup power… 🔋… hmmmm… (They don’t mention storin’ either 💉 or 💊, both of which oft-require “chilled” storage…)

5. The “underground” started in 1946 as a ⛰️🧨 quarry + mine ⛏️ 🪨 an’ developed from there and the actual town of Springfield was 🏡 BUILT UP using the material (limestone 🪨 ) dug up from creating “The Underground” (hmmm… which came first, the chicken er the cheese…? but seriously folks, does that mean the entire town is “beholden” to Erlen / The Springfield Underground? Seems they “built up” the entire town — ed)

6. Right now there are 3.5 million square feet of carved-out space ⛏️ IN USE and they are still growing both by adding space 🧱🧱🧱 an’ increasing truck traffic 🚚

7. The “Springfield Underground” accommodates “tractor trailers, trucks, and RAIL traffic (via the BNSF railroad, as previously stated). Now ‘member y’all there ARE regular ROADS“on top” that can easily accommodate 🚙 “truck” traffic 🚚 or tractor-trailers 🚛 an’ there are other railway tracks “above ground”—in fact a MAJOR HIGHWAY 🛣️ is directly above this thang… so WHY (I ask) do “these” particular veehicules git access to “The Underground?” and WHY is it needed? (Surely it’s not THAT hard to bypass city traffic from “Springfield to Springfield” but then again…weigh-ins an’ cargo inspections an’ similar might prove INCONVENIENT dependin’ on WHAT is bein’ transported…
   just sayin’! — ed)

8. The warehouse space in “The Underground” has been 📦 storing food for 60+ years!📦 The whole space is allocated to have 75% of it “food” (“mostly” 🧀 cheese 🧀 so the “Krafty ones” say!) and 60% of that area is refrigerated. They mean CHILLED to a cool 36F because the rest of the underground naturally is stable at a pleasant 60F without any needed heating or cooling…❄️ (So, sure it’s well-suited to “long term food storage” but it’s quite 🌡️ people friendly too…)
   
   ❄️ so even in the DEAD OF WINTER those who are “admitted” could live there without gettin’ frozen 🥶 or over-heated 🔥… I mean sure, we like it ‘bout 65F but humans have lived in far cooler temps than 60F…

9. They mostly work with companies in the food industry such as (this is their official list!) Kraft (as previously covered), Pepsi 🥤, and Vital Farms (eggs!🥚) — missin’ seems ta be the “Baby Oil!” but it appears P. Diddy found an’nuther “bulk supplier” ;-)

10. Griesemer states, SUPRISINGLY, that most FAST FOOD 🍩 "product" in the USA has passed through this space. He adds: 🍕 🍔 🍗 "We are part of the food chain distribution 🌭 🍿 network that gets products to and from GROCERY STORES."
    
    Whaaat? First, does he REALLY mean 🇺🇸 ANYWHERE in the USA? 🇺🇸 the food has gone THROUGH the Springfield Underground tunnels? I mean literally such that fast food now bein’ served in Delaware or South Dakota made a pit-stop in Springfield? Just hopin’ I understood correctly: “passed through” as in got transported via their tunnels? er… WHY? Is it like Fed Ex where all packages go to hubs even if it means leavin’ a local area to eventually return right back TO it after gettin’ collected at a hub? Or is it something DARKER? I ask ‘bout "backup storage" for all "our" data? Due to climate control (given 'puters are literally wreckedwith heat) such underground spaces (naturally grounded too!) are perfectly suited for “electronics.”

"human energy storage" might be undertaken there since they say our human cells (via the Wban / IEEE) are already powerin' our basic devices (per Sabrina Wallace an' the MANY studies she cites...), is this gonna be a place where "human energy" is harvested like in the Matrix? An’ if so will it be done remotely or should we imagine human slaves hooked up ta machines in a nice "climate controlled" space to prevent "glitches" or loss of "power?"
