PREDICTIVE WEIRDNESS: a strange & popular OMINOUS FOG “MEME”

“When the FOG comes” jokes abound ‘bout these DIRE PREDICTION End-of-World ApocaLipsClips which are NOT AT ALL FUNNY; some seem a leeeetle close to REALITY:

There are TONS of these online clips… WHO put’em there & WHY? (wait I’ll guess!)

Caveat! I do not know the show but but apparently in the KIDS SHOW “SpongeBob Squarepants” there are a series of non-sequitur WARNINGS about an ominous fog that's "coming." (HaHa...?) The Fog is an event mentioned at least once in the show in a conversation by SpongeBob, who says it is coming from the sea.  (hmmm....)

AS the LORE online goes: a character named Loudward claims the fog comes along every year and takes people away, and that they should hopefully be safe indoors. It was theorized (by internet sleuths) that the fog IS the black screen during the frequent episodes with an awkward PAUSE durin' each flashback aka ”Wow! That was a long time ago.What was it like?” 
It's said: The Fog gives people dementia and schizophrenia.

🤔  Would that BE the L.A. "Fog" or the FLA "Fog" or the East Coast "Fog?"

SO... whatever the show's own potentially CREEPY messagin', it seems that all sorts of "show fans" make "fog is comin'" clips an' some kids are now SCARED of the show due to these planted, dark warnings?  Sharin' fer obvious reasons but WTF?
